Tina Fey Biography
Born Elizabeth Stamatina Fey on May 18, 1970, Tina Fey is a very talented writer, comedian, actress and producer wrapped up in an amazing package. With a B.A. in Drama from the University of Virginia, Tina Fey then moved to Chicago in 1992 to attend night classes at The Second City, where she learned the art of improvisation. Two years later, Tina Fey became a cast of The Second City and was featured in the Jeff Award-winning “Paradigm Lost.”
Although Tina Fey also tried to make it as a stand-up comedian, her love for improvisation led to a writing job for the NBC hit show, Saturday Night Live, where she became one of the show’s writers in 1997. By 1999, Fey became the show’s first head writer and received a Writers Guild of America Awards in 2001 as well as a 2002 Emmy Award for her and her SNL writing staff’s work on the show. On SNL, Fey has written some of the funniest sketches including the “Live with Regis and Kelly” and “The View” spinoffs as well as “The Boston Teens” and “The Girl with No Gavdar,” which are both co-written by Rachel Dratch. For four years, Fey and Jimmy Fallon starred in SNL’s Weekend Update.

About Tina Fey
Tina Fey completed a B.A. in acting in 1992 with extensive improvisation training. Before she became an important cast member of Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey tried to do stand-up comedy. In 1997, Tina Fey became a writer for NBC’s top-rated Saturday Night Live and only after two years with the show, jumped up to become the first ever female head writer of SNL. Throughout her career with SNL, she won a Writers Guild of America Award and an Emmy Award. By 2005, Tina Fey completed her last season for SNL to develop her own TV show, 30 Rock that started fall 2006 on NBC. One of Fey’s best performances in SNL is when she returned on September 2008 to impersonate Alaska Governor Sarah Pailin, who was running alongside John McCain for the 2008 elections.
For 30 Rock, Tina Fey wears three hats – she writes, produces and stars in the show. 2007 was a good year for Tina Fey as she was nominated for an Emmy Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and her show won an Outstanding Comedy series.
Tina Fey isn’t just for TV shows. She has written and co-starred on the comedy film, Mean Girls, which became a hit worldwide. The talented Fey also made a voice cameo in an animated movie, Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters, co-starred in Baby Mama and done a commercial for American Express credit card.
