Summer Glau Biography

Summer Lyn Glau was born on July 24, 1981 in San Antonio Texas. When Summer received a scholarship from a ballet company, she took advantage of the opportunity and was home-schooled since 12 years old to accommodate a busy training as a ballerina. While in town, Glau auditioned for several TV advertisements and later settled to Los Angeles in 2002 in pursuit of a professional acting career.

Summer’s first TV role was a guest appearance as a ballerina in the episode "Waiting in the Wings" from the third season of the hit show, “Angel.” The director of Angel, Joss Whedon, then offered Glau a role as River Tam on the 14-episode TV series, “Firefly.” In 2003, Summer Glau portrayed Paige Pratt in an episode of the TV series “Cold Case,” followed by a ticket girl role in the 2004 film “Sleepover.” Also in 2004, Glau appeared in the CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode “What’s Eating Gilbert Grissom?” as Mandy Cooper, a friend of the victim.
