Michelle Ingrid Williams was born on September 9, 1980 in Kalispell, Montana, but she grew up in San Diego, California. Michelle always wanted to become an actress, even at a young age. After graduating from the Upper School of Santa Fe Christian Schools, she dropped out to pursue a career in acting. Apparently, her sacrifices were all worth it since Michelle Williams didn’t have a problem getting work. In the 1990s, she appeared in popular TV shows, such as “Baywatch,” “Step by Step” and “Home Improvement.” Her debut film was in the 1994 motion picture “Lassie” where she played April Porter. A year later, Michelle was cast in the 1995 sci-fi flick “Species,” which led to several films, including “A Thousand Acres,” and “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later.”

In 1998, Michelle Williams landed the role of Jen Lindley on hit WB TV series “Dawson’s Creek,” where she worked for six successful seasons. Throughout the duration of Dawson’s Creek, Williams starred in several notable independent films, such as the Watergate scandal satire “Dick” and the critically acclaimed “Prozac Nation.” She then starred in a made-for-TV HBO film entitled “If These Walls Could Talk 2” alongside Chloë Sevigny. Other acclaimed indie films Williams has appeared on include “The United States of Leland,” “Me Without You,” and “Imaginary Heroes.”

She then shifted to the big screen and received a role in the movies, “Species”, “A Thousand Acres” and “Halloween H20: 20 Years Later”. However, it was in 1998 that Williams’ career received a major boost when she was cast in the WB TV hit show, “Dawson’s Creek” as Jen Lindsay for six successful seasons. Throughout her stay in Dawson’s Creek, Williams appeared in several indie films, including “Dick”, “Prozac Nation”, “If these Walls Could Talk 2”, “The United States of Leland”, “Imaginary Heroes”, “Me Without You” and “The Station Agent”.

In 2005, Williams starred in the drama film, “Brokeback Mountain”, which earned her a Critic’s Choice Award and nominations for Best Supporting Actress from the BAFTA, Academy Award and Golden Globe. Although Michelle Williams also appeared in a string of Blockbuster films, including “The Hawk is Dying”, “The Hottest State” and “I’m Not There”, she is regarded as an actor who takes huge risks by choosing to play in independent films.
