Mia Kirshner Biography

Mia Kirshner was born on January 25, 1975 in Toronto, Canada. After studying 20th Century Movie Industry and Russian Literature at the McGill University, Kirshner pursued a career in acting. Her first work included TV appearances on “Dracula: The Series” in 1990 and on “Are You Afraid of the Dark: Tale of the Hungry Hounds” in 1992.

Mia’s first film role was in the 1993 movie, “Love and Human Remains,” which led to a Genie nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role.’ It was soon followed by a starring role in the 1993 Atom Egoyan film, “Exotica” and an appearance on the movie “Cadillac Girls.” After guest starring in the TV series “Johnny’s Girl” in 1995, she appeared in the 1995 drama “Murder in the First” alongside big names like Gary Oldman, Christian Slater and Kevin Bacon.

Mia Kirshner started her career with a bang, playing a dominatrix in the 1993 movie, “Love and Human Remains”, which led to a Genie nomination for ‘Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role’. In 1994, she starred in the movie “Exotica”, followed by a role in “The Crow: City of Angels” in 1996. In the late 1990s, Kirshner acted in several movies, including “Anna Karenina”, “Mad City” and “Out of the Cold” and a guest appearance in the TV series, “ Johnny's Girl”.

In 2001, Kirshner appeared in the first three episodes of the hit show, “24” and re-appeared in the second and fourth season. In 2004, Kirshner became one of the casts of “The L Word” and continued to work on the hit show until 2009. In 2007, she made a guest appearance on the TV series, “They Come Back” as Faith Hardy.

Kirshner has also appeared in various feature films. She was cast in the comedy flick, “Not Another Teen Movie” and worked on several movies from 2001 to 2004, including “According to Spencer”, “Century Hotel”, “Now and Forever”, “New Best Friend”, “Party Monster” and “The Iris Effect”. In 2006, Kirshner starred in the movie, “The Black Dahlia” alongside Josh Harnett and Scarlett Johansson.
