Lisa Edelstein Biography
Lisa Edelstein was born on May 21, 1966 in Boston, Massachusetts, but grew up in Wayne, New Jersey. She attended Wayne Valley High School, graduated in 1984 and moved to New York to study professional acting at the New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. While living in New York City, Lisa became active in the local club scene, so much so that she was named New York City’s “Queen of Downtown” in the James St. James 1999 book, “Disco Bloodbath.” Known as “Lisa E.” in the clubbing circuit, Edelstein used her fame to write and star in the AIDS-inspired musical “Positive Me.” In 1990, Lisa received her first TV gig hosting the MTV show, “Awake on the Wild Side.”
Edelstein wasn’t just a celebutante in the 1990s; she also had small roles on films such as the 1991 “The Doors,” the award-winning 1997 “As Good As It Gets,” the 1998 movie “Susan’s Plan” and the 1999 “30 Days.” Lisa’s film credits also include “Keeping the Faith,” “What Women Want,” “Black River,” “Daddy Day Care,” “Fathers and Sons,” and “Say Uncle.”

About Lisa Edelstein
Lisa Edelstein started her professional acting career in productions on and off Broadway, writing and performing in the AIDS-related musical, “Positive Me” while studying theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She then gained her first TV appearance as a host of the MTV cable series, “Awake on the Wild Side”. In the early 1990s, Edelstein won small roles in several TV shows, including “Seinfeld”, “The Larry Sanders Show” and “Mad about You”. By 1996, she appeared in more TV series, including “The West Wing”, “Relativity”, “Ally McBeal”, “Family Law”, “Felicity”, “ER”, “Just Shoot Me”, “Frasier”, “Without a Trace”, “Judging Amy” and “The Practice”.
Lisa Edelstein has lent her voice in various animated programs, including, “Superman: the Animated Series”, “King of the Hill”, “American Dad” and the video game “Blade Runner”. In the big screen, Lisa Edelstein has appeared in various films, including “What Women Want”, “Keeping the Faith”, “As Good as it Gets” and “Daddy Daycare”.
