Gina Gershon Biography

Gina Gershon, who was born on June 10, 1962 in L.A., is a talented actress who has graced the silverscreen, TV and Broadway. After attending New York University, where she studied Child Psychology and Drama, Gina attended the Circle in the Square Professional Theater School and became one of the founding members of Naked Angels, the NY-based theater group.

One of Gina Gershon’s first acting appearances was in the productions “Camille” and “The Substance of Fire.” She then had a small role in the 1986 chick flick “Pretty in Pink” and an appearance in the 1988 films “Red Heat” and “Cocktail” alongside Tom Cruise. Gershon switched to TV work, appeared in the series “The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd” in 1989 and landed a recurring role on the hit drama series “Melrose Place” in 1993. Gina also played Nancy Sinatra in the 1992 made-for-TV biopic, “Sinatra.” Her work in Sinatra was critically acclaimed, which led to more work including the 1995 film “Showgirls,” and the 1996 mobster flick “Bound” Gina Gershon also co-starred in the Nicolas Cage and John Travolta action film “Face/Off” in 1997.

Gina Gershon started her career with the New York theater group, Naked Angels. She then worked on her first acting gig in “Camille and The Substance of Fire”. By 1986, she won a part in the hit movie, “Pretty in Pink” and then a bigger role in the Tom Cruise film, “Cocktail”. In 1992, she won critical acclaim for the made-for-TV movie, “Sinatra”, where she played Nancy Sinatra. A year later, Gershon started her work in the TV series, “Melrose Place” with a recurring role. By 1996, Gershon landed roles in several box office feature films, such as “Bound” and “Face/Off”. From 1997 to 2007, Gershon appeared in more than a dozen movies, including “Palmetto”, “Driven”, “Borderline”, “Prey for Rock and Roll”, “Three Way”, “Category 7: The End of the World”, “Dreamland”, and “Delirious”, among others.

In the small screen, Gina Gershon had recurring roles in the TV series, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Ugly Betty”. She also wrote a children’s book with her brother entitled “Camp Creepy Time” and lent her voice for Major League Baseball’s campaign, “I Live for This”. Gershon also played Jew’s harp on Scissor Sister’s song, “I Can’t Decide”” and Paul Simmon’s “I Do it For Your Love”.
