Courteney Cox Arquette, born on June 15, 1964 in Birmingham Alabama, is a former model, actress and film producer. Courteney pursued a modeling career in New York and was signed by the Ford modeling agency. To lose her southern accent, she enrolled in acting lessons.

In 1984, Courteney Cox became popular for a Bruce Springsteen video for the song, “Dancing in the Dark” and appeared in the TV series “As the World Turns.” A year later, Courteney became the first person to use the word “period” in a 1985 ad campaign for Tampax tampons and guest starred in TV shows like “Murder, She Wrote,” “The Love Boat,” and “Sylvan in Paradise.” After starring in the TV series “Misfits of Science” in 1985, she also graced the big screen in films like “Masters of the Universe” and “Cocoon: The Return.” From 1987 to 1989, Courteney Cox landed a recurring role in the TV series “Family Ties” as the girlfriend of Michael J. Fox’s character Alex Keaton.

Unlike other celebrities that start their career modeling, Courtney Cox became popular in the 1984 Bruce Springsteen video, Dancing in the Park, where she played a fan pulled up into the stage and danced with Springsteen. A year later, she became the first person to use the word “period” on an ad campaign for Tampax tampons. Since then, Cox starred in films like Masters of the Universe, Cocoon: The Return, Mr. Destiny and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective while appearing in TV shows, including Misfits of Science, Family Ties and Seinfeld.

It was in 1994 that Courtney Cox received the greatest role of her career – as Monica Geller on the sitcom Friends. For 10 years, Courtney Cox became a household name and during their 10th season in 2004, became the highest paid TV actress of all time with a paycheck of a whopping $1 million per-episode, along with Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow. In between Friends, Courtney Cox starred in three parts of the box office hit, Scream – one in 1996, 1997 and 2000. She then starred in other movies, including The Runner, 3000 Miles to Graceland and The Shrink is In, but did not receive the same success as her Friends gig.

After Friends, Cox had her own TV drama, Dirt, where she played Lucy Spiller. A good two seasons later, the show ended, but Cox quickly jumped back into the spotlight by starring in three episodes of the comedy TV series Scrubs. Courtney Cox is scheduled to star in an ABC comedy series called Cougar Town and appear on a fourth Scream film to be released in 2009.
