Angela Michelle Harmon, who is of Greek and Cherokee Native American descent, was born on August 10, 1972 in Highland Park, Texas. With parents Larry Harmon and Daphne Demar who both modeled in the fashion industry, Angie Harmon was introduced to modeling at an early age. Her first job was in 1988 when she won a modeling contest at Seventeen magazine. While at Highland Park High School, Angie Harmon became a member of the Highland Belles. After winning the “Spectrum Model Search” contest, Harmon moved to New York to pursue a professional career in modeling.
In the early 1990s, Angie Harmon signed with IMG Models, became the “it girl” and worked as a runway model with big names such as Donna Karan, Giorgio Armani, Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein, among others. During this time, Harmon also graced the covers of popular magazines such as Italian and French editions of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Esquire and Glamour.
In 1995, while on an airplane, Angie Harmon met David Hasselhoff, who offered her the female lead on the Baywatch spinoff, Baywatch Nights. Even though she had no acting experience, Harmon accepted the job and considered her portrayal of Ryan McBride as the work that gave her the “44 lessons on hitting her mark.” She used those lessons well and her work on Baywatch paid off when she received her first film role in the 1997 movie, “Lawn Dogs.” Harmon also appeared on the series “Renegade” in 1995 and “Baywatch” in 1996.
Angie Harmon appeared on the crime TV series “C-16: FBI” in 1997 where she portrayed a rookie cop named Amanda Reardon. After the show ended in 1998, Angie moved to Los Angeles and auditioned for the part of Abbie Carmichael on the popular courtroom drama “Law & Order” and was given a five-year contract. While working on Law & Order, Angie Harmon also lent her voice for the animated film “Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker.”
She then left Law & Order to focus on her film career. Between 2001 and 2005, Angie Harmon appeared in several films, including the 2001 direct-to-video movie “Good Advice,” the 2003 family film “Agent Cody Banks,” the 2005 political thriller “The Deal” and the remake of “Fun with Dick and Jane.” While working on these films, Angie also appeared in several TV shows, including the Lifetime Television drama, “Video Voyeur: The Susan Wilson Story,” and the medical drama “Inconceivable.”
In 2006, Angie Harmon played Kate Crawford in the direct-to-DVD suspense “End Game” alongside Cuba Gooding Jr. and James Woods. That same year, she was given the lead role in the ABC pilot “Secrets of a Small Town,” and appeared in the 2006 film, “Glass House: The Good Mother.” Harmon’s latest work include an appearance in the 2007 TV series “Women’s Murder Club,” the 2007 film “Seraphim Falls” and the 2008 made-for-TV movie “Living Proof.”
